Health & Hygiene Menstrual Hygiene Program 7240 schoolgirls Andhra Pradesh

Menstruation is a natural biological process experienced by all adolescent girls and women. However, in many rural and remote areas of India, it continues to be surrounded by stigma and taboo, hindering open discussion and awareness. This lack of awareness regarding menstrual hygiene and the consequences of unhygienic practices has led to various health issues such as UTIs, fungal infections, hepatitis B, reproductive tract infections, and even cervical cancer.

In response to this challenge, a menstrual hygiene training program has been launched specifically for girl students in classes 6th through 12th. The program includes awareness sessions on menstruation, promoting safe and hygienic menstrual practices, and educating participants on the proper usage and disposal of sanitary napkins. Additionally, sanitary napkins are distributed to the target population as part of the initiative.

By breaking the silence and providing essential education and resources, the initiative aims to empower girls to manage their menstrual health with confidence and dignity.
